If you are looking to experience what Marlborough has to offer then Nutmeg Creek can be a useful hub for both the active and passive visitor.
A really quiet place, peaceful sanctuary, to return to at the end of the days activities.
Fishing
Fish is never better than when you have caught it yourself and is cooked fresh.
There are many opportunities for the fisherman/woman in Marlborough.
For the saltwater fisherman nearby Havelock - the greenshell mussel capital of the world - it is possible to join a fishing charter for the day or longer, where you may catch Blue Cod, Snapper, Groper and even Kingfish.
Another option is a trip on the Mail Boat which services the people living in the Pelorus Sound or you can hire Sea Kayaks.
The Pelorus River, Wairau River and Nelson Lakes offer the trout fisherman Rainbow and Brown Trout in a variety of waters.
A fishing licence is required.
Wine Tours
There are over fifty wineries in Marlborough, many of them within 45 minutes drive of Nutmeg Creek with restaurants and cellar door sales.

Ski and snow boarding
Rainbow Ski Field is 1.5 hours drive from Nutmeg Creek.
The wide, uncrowded slopes and well groomed trails provide superb terrain for beginner and intermediates while advanced skiers can challenge themselves in the high powder runs and chutes. Boarders love the varied terrain, jumps, bumps and drops.
Wild Boar Hunting
For the hunter/gatherer types looking for a real buzz there are local guides who hunt wild boar with dogs.
This is not an activity for the squeamish and requires a good level of fitness as some of the country covered can be rough.
